Mexico 🇲🇽

Chichen Itza is an ancient Mayan city on the Yucatan Peninsula in northern Mexico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its majestic pyramids, mysterious cenotes, vast stadiums and markets are open to visitors all year round.

In the 14th century, for unknown reasons, people left the city, and the Spaniards who came here in the 16th century found only ruins. Excavations of the ancient city began in the 19th century by private individuals, and only in 2010 did the Mexican government buy the land, designating Chichen Itza one of the wonders of the world.
