Nanga Parbat (Urdu نانگا پربت - "Naked Mountain") is the ninth highest eight-thousander in the world, located at the northwestern tip of the Western Himalayas between the Indus and Astor rivers.

The climate on the mountain is very changeable and treacherous; sudden snowstorms, fogs, and snowfalls are possible. For most of the year the peak is practically inaccessible.

Nanga Parbat has earned the nickname "Killer Mountain" due to the high number of fatalities among climbers.
