A shopping center has opened in Shanghai with 1 thousand trees and 250 thousand plants on the facades and inside the building. The architectural concept of the project was developed by British designer Thomas Heatherwick.
The nine-story shopping center is called “1000 Trees” and resembles a mountain covered with greenery. The shopping center is designed using a grid of concrete columns that create a 45-degree slope towards the river. Deciduous and evergreen trees, as well as shrubs and climbing plants are planted on each of the columns.
