Giethoorn is a village in the province of Overijssel in the Netherlands. Known as the "Venice of the north" or "Venice of the Netherlands".

In the old part of the village there used to be no roads, and all transport communications were carried out through numerous channels. These channels were formed at the site of peat extraction.
