Funicular Gelmer
The Gelmerbahn is a funicular railway in the Hasli Valley in the Swiss canton of Bern. Connects the village of Handegg with Lake Gelmer. Operates during the daytime from early June to mid-October.
The Gelmer funicular with a slope of 106° is considered the steepest in Europe. Its open trailer will take you to Lake Gelmer, located at an altitude of 1860 m above sea level. Lake Gelmer is artificial, which is formed by melting snow in the mountains and is used by the Grimsel hydroelectric power station.
