The area is known for its granite cliffs covered with pine trees. The height of 77 peaks in this ridge exceeds 1000 meters.

Since 1990, the Huangshan area has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is a national park of the People's Republic of China - one of the most popular tourist destinations in China.
