Colosseum, Rome 🏛

It is the largest ancient amphitheater ever built and remains the largest standing amphitheater in the world.
(also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre).

The Colosseum is considered one of the greatest achievements of Roman engineering and architecture. It is a monumental elliptical amphitheater built from a mixture of travertine and concrete.

The amphitheater was intended to host public spectacles such as gladiator fights, animal hunts and mock naval battles. 

Currently it is under state protection and included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites🌍
