Yi Peng Lantern Festival💥🌌
#Thailand, Chiang Mai🇹🇭
The Sky Lantern Festival is celebrated in the northern part of the country, especially in the city of Chiang Mai, which is called the cultural capital of the kingdom. The holiday has a history of approximately seven centuries and is associated with the culture of the medieval state of Lanna, on whose former territory northern Thailand is located.
The Yi Peng Festival was traditionally held to celebrate the end of the rainy season, as well as to honor Buddha. Its main symbol is the glowing Khom Loy lanterns, which send upward, letting go of fears and attracting good luck.
