🏰 Château de Pierrefonds was originally built for Duke Louis of Orléans in the late 14th century and played a significant role in the political life of that time. However, in the 17th century, by order of Cardinal Richelieu, the castle was destroyed to prevent its possible use as a stronghold against royal power. 🏰
