In the weeks since President Volodymyr Zelensky called for foreign fighters to help protect Ukraine, thousands of volunteers from around the world have come to aid the war effort.

Some came to join Ukrainian forces at the front lines in exchange for a paycheck; others are taking up arms to defend urban neighborhoods.

For several days, our cameras in Lviv, in western Ukraine, followed a group of foreign volunteers, including two Americans, as they navigated how to arm themselves, with the help of a volunteer coordinator from the International Legion for the Territorial Defense of Ukraine.
