Russian missiles strike Kyiv, following attacks across Ukraine.

Russian missiles hit Kyiv early Sunday morning, a day after a barrage of strikes on targets across the country.

Ambulance crews and rescuers rushed to the scene of the strikes in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where they helped evacuate people from two damaged residences, Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said on Telegram.

“There are people under the rubble,” Mr. Klitschko said. “Two victims were hospitalized.”

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said a nine-story residential building in the Lukyanivka neighborhood had caught fire and its top three floors were partially destroyed. It said some residents were injured, but gave no details.

Images posted on social media showed heavy smoke filling the blue morning sky over what appeared to be a largely residential neighborhood. On Saturday, Russian forces launched at least 45 missiles at targets across Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
