After Russian forces retreated in disarray and Ukrainian troops reclaimed hundreds of square miles in the northeast, civilians who had been living under Russian occupation for months are experiencing a jarring shift in focus from survival to re-establishing normal life.
About 150,000 people in some 300 communities in northeastern Ukraine are living in areas reclaimed from Russian control, Hanna Malyar, Ukraine’s deputy minister of defense, said on Tuesday. Read more
