A Ukrainian drone struck an oil depot within Russia, a local official says.
A drone hit an oil facility near an airport in a Russian area that borders Ukraine, the region’s governor said early Tuesday, a day after Ukraine executed its most brazen attack of the war inside Russia by using drones to target two military bases.
Roman Starovoit, the governor of the Russian region of Kursk, said on Tuesday morning that emergency services had extinguished the fire and that no one had been injured. The airport, in the city of Kursk, is used for civilian aviation and by the Russian military.
Videos from Kursk on Tuesday showed a large fire with plumes of smoke visible from across the city. The videos could not immediately be independently verified. Read more
