Turkey's Parliament is expected to ratify Finland's bid to join NATO on Thursday, clearing the final obstacle for the Nordic nation on Russia's border to join the Western military alliance, Turkish state-run media reported.

The addition of Finland to NATO would add one of Western Europe's most potent wartime militaries to the alliance as well as intelligence and border-surveillance abilities tailored over decades to the threat posed by Russia, U.S. officials said.
Russia detained an American journalist, Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal correspondent based in Moscow, accusing him of espionage.
