China's real estate billionaire tycoons have lost in excess of US$46 billion in wealth collectively this year

This according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world's 500 richest people that started in 2012. Leading the pack is Evergrande Group founder Hui Ka Yan, whose wealth plunged by US$17.2 billion.

Once Asia's second-richest person with a US$42 billion fortune, Hui is now worth just US$6.1 billion.
