Our #BTLuxe CNY edition is up, and we begin our features on Singapore's trailblazers born in the year of the Tiger with our headlining interview with Mando-pop jazz star Joanna Dong.
Before her Sing! China breakthrough, Dong was voted out in the first week of Singapore Idol's first season for singing "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", a song many Singapore viewers are unfamiliar with.
Covid-19 has thrown the entire live music industry out of whack, though, and she talks to us about why she's doing a CNY concert in a week's time:
''I've to ask myself so many times: Is singing really something I still want to do? Do I still want to be a musician? But deep in my heart, the answer is still yes. I need to believe in my decision. And this upcoming concert — my first Chinese New Year concert ever — is an affirmation of that faith.''
