In his latest for #TheLevelGround, BT’s Leslie Yee touches on the prevalence of parents helping their offspring buy homes in Singapore and also in cities such as Hong Kong or Shanghai. As home prices keep rising over time, it makes sense for parents to help their children get on to the private residential property ladder sooner. But, he notes, there might be harmful social consequences if such help becomes widespread.
