In the midst of World War II, 75 Maude Road was where Singapore’s founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew hid to escape a mass screening at the nearby Jalan Besar Stadium. Had he not found refuge, death was almost a certain outcome.

Today, that shophouse which had been left vacant and derelict for years – has been lovingly rehabilitated.
