Collaborators or frenemies? What is the ideal relationship between Malaysia and Singapore?
“It is better to be friends than enemies, better to be collaborators together – and we have shown that we can,” said Malaysia’s Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, in response to a question from BT editor Chen Huifen at the Asia Future Summit 2025.
Separately, Zafrul said he remains committed to assisting the government, even if not as a minister. “What am I going to do next? You know, if SPH is looking for people, I’m available, of course.”
When told by Chen that he would be too expensive, Zafrul replied: “You can pay me in ringgit!”
