💵Google will invest an additional $2 billion in Anthropic — the developer of Claude 2

According to WSJ, Google is investing $500 million immediately and will further increase the funding by $1.5 billion.

A startup established by former OpenAI employees had previously secured a deal with Google Cloud worth over $3 billion.

We reported in September that Amazon would also be investing $4 billion in Anthropic, raising its valuation to $20-30 billion.

Anthropic, founded in 2021, is developing a chatbot named Claude, capable of searching through documents, answering questions, and processing texts up to 75,000 words. In July 2023, the company released an updated language model Claude 2.

For comparison, the total investment in OpenAI amounts to $11.3 billion.
