🤖 Top 5 Robotics Startups Highlighted by Bill Gates
Bill Gates has recently shared on his blog a list of five innovative startups in the robotics sector.
👨💻 Agility Robotics. Their humanoid robot, Digit, is already actively being tested in Amazon warehouses: it's mobile, capable of lifting heavy loads and extending its arms to reach high shelves. All of this makes it more flexible and convenient compared to wheeled robots. The company has launched the RoboFab factory in Oregon to mass-produce robots.
😃 Tevel. This Israeli company creates drones for harvesting crops, including grapes, peaches, and strawberries. These drones are already operational in Italy, the USA, Chile, and Israel, helping to alleviate the labor shortage in agriculture, which lacks about 2.4 million workers annually.
🤖 Apptronik. Sales of the humanoid robot Apollo will begin this year, and as promised by the manufacturers, it will cost no more than a new car. Apollo can be used in warehouses, manufacturing, and even assist around the home. It can also run third-party software, making it easier to add new features after its release.
🏃 RoMeLa. The robot from the Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory at the University of California, ARTEMIS, can walk at a speed of 2.1 m/s, making it the fastest and most stable humanoid in the world. ARTEMIS even participated in the RoboCup 2023 football tournament.
🛸 Field AI. It is the only company on Gates's list that doesn't produce physical robots. Field AI creates autonomy systems for any machine — for legged, wheeled, flying, and tracked vehicles. AI software enables robots to operate successfully even in unpredictable and changing conditions.

Clearly, one of the main trends in 2024 is the integration of AI technologies into the real world. And it's impossible to imagine this without robotics.
