However, the central area of the OpenAI CEO’s financial interests lies in future technologies essential for the era of AGI. These interests focus on 'clean' and unlimited energy sources and biotechnologies for life extension.

In 2021, Altman invested over $375 million in Helion Energy, a company developing nuclear fusion energy. Helion Energy is expected to begin production in 2028.

In 2022, Altman invested $180 million in Retro Biosciences, a startup developing life-extension technologies. This is one of the most significant private investments in this field.

The startup only revealed its developments publicly at the end of 2023. They aim to add at least a decade of quality life through autophagy, a cellular reprogramming technology. This involves 'removing' damaged cells and rejuvenating blood plasma. The pioneering discoveries in this field were made in the mid-2000s by Japanese scientist Shinya Yamanaka, who later received a Nobel Prize for his work.

According to Altman, although financing biotech companies is not cheap, the game is worth it: 'It’s a lot. I basically just took all my liquid net worth and put it into these two companies.

Altman's plans and ambitions are indeed grand. For example, he plans to raise about $7 trillion in investments for building factories to produce chips for AI. This amount is equivalent to nearly double the GDP of Germany 🤯
