🔍 Consensus is an AI-powered search engine for research papers

A popular service enables one to search for answers directly in scientific publications. Its database contains more than 200 million peer-reviewed research articles.

🎮 WHAT TO USE IT FOR?

→ preparation for a research study;
→ conducting the literature review or studying the scientific base of the topic/field;
→ looking for answers to (almost) any questions, with scientific references.

⚙️ HOW DOES IT WORK?

It is better to formulate queries as research questions. How to do this is extensively explained in the tool guide.

The search engine works only with queries in English, though papers in other languages may also be retrieved.

ℹ️ WHAT’S HANDY?

Short AI-powered answers. Each search output in a grey box is a research paper. In addition to the title, each box contains an AI-powered answer to the question based on its content.

Convenient filters. By publication year, field of science, study design, journal quality, sample size, and other criteria.

Bookmarks and lists. One can add outputs to My favorites list and create custom bookmark categories, save both entire lists and particular papers, as well as share links to them.

➕ WHAT ELSE?

Additional options are available for credits (20 per month in the free plan). 1 credit = 1 call for an option:

AI synthesis from multiple papers. In addition to a summary of each research article, the engine can generate an overall conclusion based on many different sources.

Study snapshots. A list of key details for each paper, if identified by AI: population and sample size, research methods, study design, and outcomes measured.

Copilot, the new feature of this month! Enables to make queries in any format, including for specific research tasks.
