NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang spoke to Stanford students about his journey to the top of the IT business, the role of a CEO in a corporation, and his reaction to NVIDIA's recent triumph.

🧳 On the Importance of Any Task
For me, there's no task beneath me. During my first job at Denny's (a restaurant chain), I excelled as the best dishwasher they'd ever seen. Then I cleaned toilets. I've cleaned more toilets than all of you combined. That's life.
🤝 On Trust
When NVIDIA was starting, Electronic Arts was a key partner. At that time, EA's technology director was only 14 years old. His mom used to drive him to work. That's the level of trust we had in our partners.
👍 On Convincing a Silicon Valley Investor
I bought the book "How to Write a Business Plan," which was a bad idea. It was too long, and by the time I finished it, I would've been out of money. So I just went to my former boss. "This is the worst elevator pitch I've ever heard," he said, and then he called investor Don Valentine and told him to give money to his best employee — my advice: have a good track record.
📈 On Ups and Downs
I treat successes and failures the same: whether NVIDIA lost 80% of its value or reached a value of $2 trillion.
🎮 On Predicting Success
When there's technology but no market for it, it's hard to convince everyone of its benefits. Standard efficiency metrics don't work. That's why we invented EIOFS — an early indicator of future success.
