Last week, Suno AI released the third version of their groundbreaking AI model capable of producing radio-quality music and songs. The startup’s founders gave an interview to Rolling Stone magazine.

⭐️ Mikey Shulman, a 37-year-old Suno AI founder with a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard, dreams of a billion people worldwide creating songs with the help of AI. The fact that music listeners so vastly outnumber music-makers at the moment creates an imbalance, he argues, and Suno could help fix it.

🎙 Currently, songs and tracks are created with a text-to-music interface. One of the future alternatives could be generating songs based on users’ singing.

🎶 Suno’s main potential competitor is Dream Track, developed by DeepMind (Google), which has obtained licenses to make songs using famous voices. However, it is only available to a limited user base on YouTube Shorts.

🎸 Suno has only 12 people on staff, but the startup plans to expand and will soon move to a new office in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Many of Suno’s employees are musicians; therefore, a vast area is reserved for a recording studio — not only for listening to AI-generated music but also for creating the original one without AI.
