🎶 Become an AI Composer: We Tested Udio, and It Sounds Cool!
Udio allows users to create music from simple text prompts.
On social media, Udio is being dubbed as a competitor to Suno AI, which is capable of generating songs of astonishing quality. We decided to test Udio and, at the same time, develop a new disco hit. The author of the verses is the budding poet William Shakespeare.
🎹 How to Write a Prompt in Udio
To create a song, you just need to specify genre, instruments, and other descriptors. Our prompt was simple:
disco/pop, 80's, disco funk house, studio 54, male English artist, male vocalist
It's not allowed to mention real people in the prompt, but the guidelines say you can use phrases like "in the style of ...".
🎶 How to Use Lyrics
In a single generation (30 seconds), Udio can process between 200 and 350 characters (about 6 lines). We don't recommend inputting fewer, or Udio might start to invent words. You can use tags in the text:
→ Verse.
→ Chorus.
→ Drop.
→ Guitar solo.
We also recommend breaking complex words into syllables.
🎶 How to Extend the Song
To continue a song, select the Extend feature. Highlight the song section you want to continue, choose the type of extension (intro, outro, interlude, or text), and click Create. You can extend the song in any direction.
Udio offers 600 free generations. It took about 15 generations (≈2 minutes) to create our "Hamlet Disco".
Don't forget to listen to "Hamlet Disco" and leave a 🔥 The singer may be generated, but it would still make the poet happy!
