🎸 Creativity Cannot Be Crushed
📱 A week ago, Apple apologized for an advertisement for their new iPad, in which a press crushes books and musical instruments. The minute-long video titled "Crush!" was posted by the company's CEO, Tim Cook, on social media platform X. The ad shows a press smashing items associated with culture and art – such as a piano, guitar, TV, audio player, books, and paint cans – accompanied by music. At the end of the video, a new iPad appears in place of the crushed objects, showcasing the multifunctionality of Apple's latest device.
The ad faced widespread criticism on social media, with many users interpreting it as demonstrating how new technologies are destroying art and the human experience. Several celebrities, including actor Hugh Grant, producer Justine Bateman, and director Reed Morano, commented negatively about the advertisement.
In response to Apple's controversial ad, Samsung released a video inspired by it. The South Korean company showed a lady playing a damaged guitar amid the wreckage and declared, "Creativity cannot be crushed." This isn't the first time Samsung has trolled Apple.
We present both videos for your consideration.
They vividly reflect the current discussion that concerns modern artists, which has intensified with the advent of the AI revolution: what is creativity, what role do modern technologies play in art, and who owns the copyrights?
