Naming is critical in determining a company's first impression. Over the last two years, numerous new recognizable AI brands have arisen. We decided to investigate the origins of their names. In some cases, it was simple; in others, we had to rely on assumptions.

🖼 Midjourney founder David Holz is a fan of Chinese philosophy. He came across the term 'mid-journey' in the Zhuangzi, one of the foundational texts of Taoism.

📱 The name OpenAI reflects its mission. "Open" indicates a commitment to the openness and accessibility of its developments. There are many jokes about this topic, as OpenAI is one of the most secretive companies on the list.
