🚕 Elon Musk Unveils the Cybercab Robotaxi
🚘 At the Warner Bros. studio in California, Tesla unveiled its new Cybercab robotaxi prototype during the "We, Robot" event. Elon Musk personally showcased several futuristic models, including the Cybercab and a minibus called the Robovan.
What is the Cybercab?
The standout feature is that the vehicle lacks both a steering wheel and pedals. It seats two people, with butterfly-wing-style doors, and the famous Cybertruck inspires its design. The new car will charge inductively (wirelessly) on a special charging platform, eliminating the need for a plug. Operating costs will reach just $0.12 per kilometer. The anticipated price stays below $30,000.
Musk claims that autonomous cars will be 10-20 times safer than those driven by humans.
The autonomous Robovan minibus can carry up to 20 passengers, and the cost per trip will be cheaper than traditional buses, becoming a "personalized public transport option."
The event also showcased new Optimus robots—personal android assistants designed for everyday tasks.
🛣 When will they be on the roads?
Currently, developers have built around 50 prototypes for testing. They plan to begin mass production no earlier than 2026, possibly 2027, depending on regulatory approvals. The cars are undergoing trials now.
