Sequoia опублікувала звіт про штучний інтелект що відбулося за два роки

✏️ Generative AI: Act o1 — A report from the major venture capital firm Sequoia on what has happened over the past two years since the beginning of the AI revolution and what to expect next.

Spoiler: The Agentic Reasoning Era Begins.

Sequoia is a fund with $85 billion in assets and one of the early investors in Apple, Google, and Instagram.

Key points:

1️⃣ There is a shift from "thinking fast" (pre-trained rapid responses) to "thinking slow" (reasoning during responses) AI models.

2️⃣ OpenAI has introduced the o1 model (also known as Strawberry), which possesses true reasoning abilities.

3️⃣ The more inference-time (or "test-time") compute you give the model, the better it reasons — this is a new scaling law for AI. Previously, the law was that the more computing and data you spend on pre-training the model, the better it performs.

4️⃣ Applications with their own cognitive architectures are emerging, mimicking human thought to solve specific tasks.

5️⃣ These applications are not just shells around base models but complex systems with multiple models, databases, and application logic.

6️⃣ A new class of "AI agent applications" is emerging across all sectors of the knowledge economy (lawyers, engineers, doctors, etc.).

7️⃣ There will be a transition from "software as a service" (SaaS) to "service as software." AI companies are selling not software but completed work.

8️⃣ That means the addressable market is not the software market but the services market, measured in trillions of dollars.

9️⃣ AI could lead to a complete rethinking of business, similar to the transition from local software to SaaS. See the table above ⬆️

AI has the potential to radically change the landscape of the technology industry and business models in the near future.
