Here's a little quiz to see if you can find sections in the photos generated by artificial intelligence. The photos were taken by The New York Times reporters and partially edited by generative AI (and some images may even be completely created by the algorithms!)

If you can't guess all of them, don't be surprised. We are indeed finding it increasingly difficult to distinguish between real photos and AI-generated content. Researchers at the University of Waterloo have confirmed this in their recent study. They offered a group of 260 people to evaluate 20 images: 10 were of real people, and 10 were generated by Stable Diffusion or DALL-E models. Only 61% of respondents could see the difference between AI content and real photos.
