💻 The AI Agent Era Begins: OpenAI's Operator and Perplexity Assistant

OpenAI revealed a preview of their AI agent Operator. Pro subscribers ($200 per month) in the U.S will be the first to gain access to the smart assistant.

Operator's capabilities:

➡️ Autonomously handles complex tasks without user intervention. During the demo, it successfully found a housekeeper for Sam Altman by searching online. The AI agent autonomously browsed the internet, reviewed job listings, and identified a suitable housekeeper candidate—all within a few minutes.

➡️ Partners with companies like Uber and DoorDash to manage everyday tasks (ride-hailing, deliveries, shopping).

➡️ Controls the user's computer. At its core, the model combines computer vision's capabilities in GPT-4o with the ability to reason, including recognizing and correcting its own mistakes.

➡️ Interacts with browsers via screenshots, keyboard, and mouse inputs through its secure browser.

➡️ Transfers control to the user if it is uncertain or does not know how to resolve a specific task stage. Additionally, it will ask the person to independently enter confidential information such as personal data, passwords, or banking details.

🖱 Competitor's Response: Perplexity Assistant

Almost simultaneously with OpenAI, Perplexity announced the integration of its new AI assistant, Perplexity Assistant, into its Android application. This AI agent can manage various installed apps on the user's device, such as ordering a taxi or creating a daily schedule. The key advantages of Perplexity Assistant include free access to and support for 15 languages.
