🖥 Can AI Actually Create? Yuval Noah Harari Responds.

Historian and futurist Yuval Noah Harari recently explained why he believes artificial intelligence is capable of creativity and how it differs fundamentally from all previous technologies.

"I like to think about the acronym AI not as 'artificial intelligence' but as 'alien intelligence.' Not because it comes from outer space—it comes from California and China—but because it processes information and makes decisions in a truly alien way, very different from how humans or any organic entities do," says Harari.

Key Takeaways:

➡️ AI is the first technology that is not just a tool in human hands—it is an autonomous agent. In the future, billions of non-organic entities will influence key decisions and innovations. The crucial question is: How do we integrate these powerful agents into society?

➡️ AI already demonstrates creativity. AlphaFold, for instance, predicted the structures of thousands of proteins in a short time—something that took human scientists years. This is true creativity: AI generates something entirely new that could not exist before.

➡️ AI evolution is happening at an unprecedented pace. What took nature billions of years, AI might achieve in just a few decades. ChatGPT and AlphaFold are like "amoebas" in this process, but within our lifetime, we may witness the rise of AI "dinosaurs."

➡️ AI is already shaping global events. Social media algorithms control the attention of billions, destabilizing democracies. We saw this with Facebook's role in Myanmar's ethnic conflict in the 2010s—decisions made by non-human intelligence contributed to real historical events and violence, even at the "amoeba" stage of AI development.
