🤩 Neko Health: Full-Body AI Scan in Just One Hour
Stockholm-based startup Neko Health has raised $260M in a new funding round, bringing its valuation to $1.8B. The company was founded by Spotify creator Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, the mind behind the smart energy company Watty.
🤩 How Does It Work?
Clients receive a thorough body scan at a specialized clinic, which assesses their skin condition, metabolic risks, cardiovascular health, and various other factors.
The data is processed by AI and then examined by a Neko doctor, who provides final recommendations. The scanning protocol took six years to develop. Neko opened its first clinic in Stockholm in 2023, followed by a second in London a year later.
The scan costs $250+ and takes one hour. Over 10,000 people have already had the operation, and 80% have scheduled a follow-up year later.
According to the company, in the first year, 14% of patients discovered previously undiscovered health issues that required attention, while 1% had their lives saved by early diagnosis of life-threatening diseases.
🤩 How Neko Wants to Transform Healthcare?
Neko develops both hardware and software. As Hjalmar Nilsonne stated, the average ECG machine in a standard clinic is 15 years old, while Neko updates its devices annually.
The company plans to use the funding to expand its clinic network globally, including in the U.S. Currently, 100,000 people are on Neko's waitlist.
"I think we have a shot of changing the biggest industry on earth and accomplish a win-win-win where we reduce costs for society, we reduce suffering and we can create a fantastic business," says Daniel Ek.
