🖥 Bill Gates Opens His Source Code: The Autobiography of the Microsoft Founder is Out

This week, on February 4th, Bill Gates released his autobiography titled "Source Code: My Origins." The book reveals secrets about the entrepreneur's personal life, sheds light on his childhood, and provides insights into the creation of Microsoft.

This is the first of three planned volumes of Bill Gates' memoirs.

Here are some of the most interesting takeaways from the book:

➡️ Bill grew up in a loving family, but his parents were often shocked by his autistic-like behavior. He refused to do homework or socialize with relatives. Gates frequently responded sarcastically to his parents and teachers, saying, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" Later, Microsoft employees would often hear these words.

➡️ According to Gates, luck played a significant role in his journey to becoming a multibillionaire.
"What I do know is that my parents afforded me the precise blend of support and pressure I needed... Instead of allowing me to turn inward, they pushed me out into the world," Gates writes in his book.

➡️ Bill Gates only felt truly successful in 1998, at the age of 42. By then, he had already been the youngest billionaire in the world for 11 years.

➡️ At Harvard, Gates deliberately delayed responding during debates with classmates and acted super-intelligent and sarcastic. This behavior helped him win numerous discussions, and according to Gates, it is a fundamental skill everyone should master.

➡️ An important experience in his life, Gates considers taking LSD. Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, suggested that Gates try "expanding his consciousness," which significantly advanced their work on the software. However, there were some mishaps. The day after taking LSD, Gates went to a dentist appointment, and it turned out to be the worst decision of his life.

➡️ In 1975, at Harvard's computer lab, Gates and Allen secretly developed a special version of the BASIC programming language for the Altair 8800 microcomputer. This project marked the company's beginning.

Gates almost got expelled for this—he was working on a commercial idea in a lab funded by Pentagon contracts. Nearly 30 years later, another student—Mark Zuckerberg—would also face expulsion from Harvard for misusing its computer resources.
