🌌 Veo 3 Has Opened a Portal to the World of Fake Memes and Reels
Google's new video model, Veo 3, which generates videos with sound, is taking the internet by storm with hyper-realistic memes and deepfakes. The AI creates full-fledged dialogues in various accents and languages. Clips, streams, interviews—everything looks ultra-realistic ⤴️
A video featuring a kangaroo being denied entry onto a plane has already been viewed by over 11 million people—and some admit they didn't immediately realize it was AI-generated (despite the label in the post itself!).
Although Veo 3 generations are still far from perfect, experts note that the issue is no longer about quality but perception. If the generation is convincing enough for even a quick glance, that's sufficient to blur the line between reality and fabrication.
"Even if this currently seems like entertainment noise, artificial video content already poses a threat: it can be used for disinformation, manipulation, and propaganda," warns Gizmodo journalist James Pero.
