🧠 Neuralink Will Let You Control Robots With Your Mind

Elon Musk's company shared updates from its clinical trials. In the past 18 months, Neuralink has implanted its brain chip in seven people with paralysis—four due to spinal cord injuries and three with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).

Thanks to the implant, participants can now ⤴️:

🔘 Move a computer cursor and type using only their thoughts.
🔘 Control a Tesla Optimus robot's hand—and according to Musk, complete "mind control" of entire robots may be possible in the future.
🔘 Play complex video games like Mario Kart and Call of Duty that require two joysticks.
🔘 Write code and design 3D models.

The current version of the implant features 1,000 electrodes that read signals from the motor cortex—the brain region responsible for movement.

Training the first user to control a cursor took several hours. For the newest user, getting started took no more than 15 minutes.

Neuralink is moving fast—the last two surgeries took place just one week apart.

Participants now use their implants not only in clinics but also at home for up to 14 hours a day. While trials are currently underway in the U.S., the company has also received approval to expand testing to the UK, Canada, and the UAE.

Neuralink's roadmap:

🔘 2025 — first trials to restore speech using brain signals.
🔘 2026 — increase to 3,000 electrodes and begin vision restoration.
🔘 2027multipurpose implant with 10,000 electrodes for speech and movement control.
🔘 202825,000+ electrodes and full AI integration.
