📱 The 40 Jobs Most Influenced by AI, According to Microsoft

Researchers at Microsoft analyzed more than 200,000 users' dialogues with the Bing Copilot chatbot to understand how people use generative AI for work.

Based on this data, they developed an "AI applicability score" for each occupation and compiled a list of the top 40 professions where LLMs could most effectively perform the majority of tasks.

🔵 AI is already successfully taking over the typical work of translators, writers, historians, salespeople, and teleoperators. AI enters the job routine of telemarketers, cashiers, travel agents, DJs, and, oddly enough, programmers and data analysts.

🔵 The jobs involving highly specialized physical labor are the least exposed to AI. These include bridge and lock tenders, water treatment plant operators, handymen, nurses. Also, algorithms can't replace managers or supervisory services—there is too much responsibility and nuance in these jobs.

At the same time, the authors of the report do not scare people with the imminent disappearance of many professions—it's just that AI is changing the nature of work.

"Our research shows that AI supports many tasks, particularly those involving research, writing, and communication, but does not indicate it can fully perform any single occupation," notes Kiran Tomlinson, a senior Microsoft researcher.

Can AI already do your job?

🔥 — No, I'm irreplaceable!
👍 — Some tasks, but not the main ones.
🗿 — Yes, I have nothing left to do...
