🤩 A Robo-Nurse Found a Job at a Hospital in Taiwan

The autonomous AI robot Nurabot is currently undergoing trials at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, helping to reduce nurses' workload by up to 30%.

It was developed by Taiwan's Foxconn Corporation together with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Nurabot operates on NVIDIA chips, and its "AI brain" is trained on thousands of virtual simulations.

The nursing robot deftly maneuvers in narrow hospital corridors, recognizes speech and answers questions. It also performs routine, repetitive tasks, such as delivering medicines, transporting specimens, and patrolling the wards. This enables medical staff to focus more on core patient care, developers explain.

"AI allows Nurabot to perceive, reason, and act in a more human-like way and adapt its behavior based on the specific patient, context, and situation," сomments David Niewolny, director of business development for health care at NVIDIA.

🤩 Nurabot will go on sale in early 2026, and by the end of the decade such robots might become commonplace due to the growing shortage of medical staff. WHO expects a shortage of 4.5 million nurses by 2030, while the number of people aged 60 and over could increase by 40%.
