🔞 "Japanese Anime Sex Bots" May Make Their Way to ChatGPT

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that ChatGPT will get an "adult mode" in December. For verified users over 18, the chatbot's content filters will be relaxed—including permission to generate erotica. It's still unclear whether the new policy will apply only to text or also extend to image and video generation.

Altman had long advocated for strict content moderation. When Elon Musk's xAI introduced a "spicy" anime companion and adult video features in Grok, the head of OpenAI said they wouldn't turn their product into a sex-chat platform.

"You will definitely see some companies go make Japanese anime sex bots because they think that they've identified something here that works. You will not see us do that," he assured back in August.

Still, it seems the success of competitors and the desire to broaden ChatGPT's audience may have prompted OpenAI to rethink its policy.

👨 The adult mode in ChatGPT will use an age-verification system originally designed to protect minors. If the system has doubts about a user's age, they will need to upload a photo of their ID.
