🧾 Employees Widely Use AI to Forge Receipts

At least 14% of receipts in expense reports for the current year were generated using AI, according to the auditing software provider AppZen.

Among more than 1,000 financial professionals recently polled in the U.S. and UK, at least one in three saw an explosive growth in the number of AI-generated receipts since the beginning of 2024.

At the same time, 32% admitted that they could not tell the difference between a real receipt and an AI fake.

"These receipts have become so good, we tell our customers, 'do not trust your eyes,'" agrees Chris Juneau, senior vice president of SAP Concur.

Research by SAP Concur in July found that nearly 70% of CFOs suspected that their employees were using AI to fake travel expenses or receipts and about 10% were certain of it.
