📰 Pakistan's Leading Newspaper Published an Article Containing a ChatGPT Response

In the closing paragraph of a business story about the auto market, readers of Dawn noticed a full block of text clearly written by an AI ⤴️

The fragment appeared in both the print and online versions of the article.

Shortly after the mistake went viral on social media, the newsroom acknowledged the error and launched an internal investigation. The Dawn website now includes an editor's note stating that the report had indeed been edited using AI, in violation of the newspaper's internal policy.

A similar issue surfaced recently in Germany, where Der Spiegel removed a story in October after readers noticed an AI-generated editing line left in the final version.
