🕊 Russian Startup Neiry Unveils Pigeon Drones
The biodrone is essentially an ordinary pigeon outfitted with a neurochip. This implant renders the bird radio-controlled, allowing operators to pilot it just like a standard drone.
The startup has already tested its chipped pigeons in Moscow. In fact, it can turn almost any bird into a cyborg.
Neiry founder Alexander Panov explained that plans include using ravens for heavier payloads, gulls for monitoring coastal facilities, and albatrosses for large sea areas.
😐 Ironically, a few years ago, a conspiracy theory spread across the US claiming that birds aren't real and are actually government spy drones. Although the idea originated as satire, some people took the joke too seriously.
🪼 Chinese scientists have also been experimenting with "radio-controlled pigeons" in recent years. Meanwhile, in California, chips are being implanted in jellyfish, hoping to turn them into living research stations.
