💡 AI-Generated Ads Work Better Than Those Made By Humans

Australian researchers showed two kinds of ads to 800 volunteers. The first was generated by AI, and the second was created by human professionals.

In the blind test, 59.1% of participants preferred AI advertising, while 40.9% liked human-made ads more.

When people viewed ads generated by LLMs but believed they were created by humans, they trusted them more—in 71.5% of cases. When participants knew the ads were AI-made, their level of trust dropped, yet they still preferred them over those produced by human content-creators.

People described the slogans in AI advertising as more "inspiring" and "professional", appreciated the storytelling, as well as the combination of text and visuals. The younger volunteers (ages 18-24) liked the "vibes" and "aesthetics."

Older participants said that they were looking for "authenticity" in advertising, but when testing blindly, they more often found this quality in AI content. 

❗️The researchers consider these results to be a turning point for marketing. The question is no longer whether AI can match human creativity in advertising—it already surpasses it.

"The questions that remain are societal: how do we ensure that these powerful capabilities serve consumer interests rather than exploit psychological vulnerabilities?" scientists write.
