📱 New Polish Lets You Use Touchscreens With Your Fingernails
Typing on a smartphone or tablet with long nails is inconvenient. Manasi Desai, a chemistry student at Centenary College in Louisiana, has created a clear nail polish that lets you use touchscreens without ruining a perfect manicure.
Capacitive screens recognize finger touch but do not respond to non-conductive materials like nails. The nail polish, based on taurine and ethanolamine, enables nails to accumulate an electrical charge sufficient for the screen to recognize the touch. It can be applied over a regular manicure or directly to bare nails.
💡 The developers have already filed a patent application, but the formula still needs refinement for mass production. The ethanolamine in the formula evaporates quickly, and the team also needs to be 100% certain of the mixture's non-toxicity before the polish goes on sale.
Would you use this polish?
❤️ — Yes, it's a real lifesaver!
🤔 — It still seems a bit inconvenient...
