They are one of the five shrines of Chinese Buddhists. They were named "Fanjingshan" during the Ming dynasty. The word "Fanjing" means "Buddhist Paradise" in Chinese. In the Fanjingshan mountains, the only shrine of the Milefo Buddha has been preserved.
