🇿🇦South Africa, Augrabies Waterfall

The Kalahari Sands, along the southern border of which the largest river in South Africa, the Orange River, flows, protect Augrabies from annoying tourists. It got its name not for some special color of the water, but simply in honor of the Dutch ruling house of the Princes of Orange.
The waters of the Orange River, rushing into one of the main channels, fall into a narrow stone crevice to crash down with a terrible noise on the granite foot of the ledge. After flying almost 150 meters, water jets fall into a stone bowl, which hydrologists call a "giant boiler". At the same time, waves rise as high as a two-story house, and a rainbow sparkles in the water spray rising above the waterfall.
The roar of the waterfall can be heard several kilometers before it. No wonder the locals - Hottentots - called the waterfall Augrabis, which means "a very noisy place".
