Belgium 🇧🇪, Leuven Town Hall
🔶The Town Hall of Leuven is located on the central square of the Grote Markt and is a significant landmark of the Belgian city.
🔶The Leuven Town Hall looks amazing: ornate patterns, many sculptures, magnificent decoration in the late Gothic style makes it a masterpiece of architecture.
🔶The origin of the town hall dates back to the 15th century: it was erected in the period from 1439 to 1469 in front of the Gothic church of St. Peter. Later, in the 19th century, the building was restored, adding 236 statues to the facade.
🔶The statues on the town hall are located on several floors of the facade: The first level is occupied by famous citizens (philosophers, artists, etc.), the second accommodates figures of patron saints, and the third contains sculptures of Brabant rulers. Made of stone, they are located in consoles and niches.
