China is testing the country's second largest shipping channel connecting two of China's largest rivers, the Yangtze and the Yellow River. 

The construction of the canal began in 2016. Investments amounted to $12.5 billion. Using the channel to transport goods will reduce logistics costs by $824 million and reduce carbon emissions by 1.7 million tons per year. The canal will also be used for irrigation of agricultural land.
