Moon jellyfish and their horseshoe shaped gonads

🌙 MOON JELLIES 🌙

Aurelia aurita, or commonly known as the moon jellyfish, is one of 28 species in the genus Aurelia!

This jellyfish is easily identifiable by its horseshoe shaped gonads which you can see at the top of its bell!

This species is considered the lab rat of jellyfish research as it is the easiest species to care for! This is also why they are found in aquariums all over the globe 🌏

Moon jellies also have short tentacles, as you can see in the video, which help them catch plankton for their dinner!
